Summer 2007 INTO THE WOODS
The design/tech internship program is an exciting addition to CCT's Pre-Professional Summer Company. Through this program, students ages 16 through college undergraduates will be able to learn the tools to becoming an asset to the world behind the scenes of a theatrical production. These internships are unpaid, however college credit is available where applicable.

All 2010 internships will begin on Sunday, May 23, 2010 (with the exception of the director intern which will begin May 10, 2010). Ending dates for interns vary depending upon the position. Please scroll down to view descriptions of each available position. Interns will work approximately 10-16 hours per week depending upon position.

Intern Position Descriptions for 2010


Director (1)
The directorial internship will give aspiring young directors a chance to sit in on the entire process from script analysis to design and staging. The selected intern will function as assistant director for The Producers. He/she will be called for all rehearsals for which the director is required. Course work will include creating a Production Book for blocking, production meeting reports, design influences and other dramaturgy. The intern will be active in leading and creating daily warm-ups and will stage one or more scenes under the supervision of the director. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self-assessment and a skills review with the director and technical director. Prerequisite: Previous theatre experience. Internships begins May 23 and ends July 25.

Assistant Technical Director (1)
The ATD will learn all technical aspects of the production and is in charge of ensuring a safe work and performance environment is maintained at all times. They work with the designers and directors to ensure their vision of the production is carried out in an effective and safe manner while maintaining all budgets. They will produce all working and building drawings for the Shop Foreman. Works with the Stage Manger to develop deck movement sheets and running Q to Q to ensure all production elements are moved and utilized in the proper manner. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self- assessment and a skills review with the Director and TD. Prerequisite: Beginning shop. Production experience helpful but not necessary. Internship includes working on the following productinos: The Producers, The Ugly Duckling: A Hip-Hop Dramedy and Click, Clack, Moo.  Internship begins May 23 and ends August 13. Stage Manager (2)
Stage Managers often can be the unsung heroes of any production. The stage management internship gives heads-on instruction on current AEA rehearsal regulations, teaches how to prepare a production and prompt book, short-hand blocking notation and management technique. The interns will be expected to attend all rehearsals and production meetings, and will serve as assistant stage managers for The Producers. Assistants will also manage at least two running crew members. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self-assessment and a skills review with the director and stage manager. Prerequisite: Previous theatrical experience. Internship begins May 23 and ends July 26.

Choreographer (1)

Choreographer internship will learn trade secrets in dance notation, development and affective teaching methods. He/she will assist the choreographer with The Producers and will work to develop at least one choreographed piece of their own. Choreographer interns are expected to attend all rehearsals for which the choreographer is called as well as production meetings and other times set by choreographer.  Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self- assessment and a skills review with the director and choreographer. Prerequisite: Some dance training. Teaching experience not required. Internship begins May 23 and ends July 8. Call 614-224-6672 to schedule an interview.

Carpenters (3-4)
These interns will learn in a very hands-on approach all the elements required to properly build scenery for stage. This will include training in various carpentry tools, reading set design plans and other practices outlined by the scene shop head. Interns are expected to attend all design meetings for The Producers, The Ugly Duckling: A Hip-Hop Dramedy and Click, Clack, Moo. Shop hours will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm-9pm, and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self- assessment and a skills review with the director and Technical Director. Prerequisite: Beginning shop or equivalent experience. Costume Design (1-2)
Costuming interns will serve as assistant costumers for The Producers. They will basic sketching for design, fabric, color and light, sewing techniques, cutting and draping, pattern making and other practices as outlined by the costume designer. Interns will attend all production design meetings as well as all other times set by the costume designer. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self- assessment and a skills review with the director and costume designer. Prerequisite: Basic beginning knowledge of sewing may be helpful but not necessary. Internship begins May 23 and ends July 30. Call 614-224-6672 to schedule an interview.

Lighting Design (1-2)
Internship includes a first look into lighting design including identifying and hanging different instruments, color, safety, programming and other practices as outlined by lighting designer for The Producers. Interns will attend all production design meetings as well as all other times set by the lighting designer. Upon the end of the process the intern will complete a self- assessment and a skills review with the director and lighting designer. Prerequisite: General knowledge of theatre. Crew experience is a plus. No fear of heights. Internship begins May 23 and ends July 8. Call 614-224-6672 to schedule an interview.
